My Dream Flights

I mentioned this in my last post, but figured I should give more detail:

Many people have flying dreams, and I guess I’m no different. The interesting thing about my flying is how it works. I remember the first time I flew in a dream. Back at the big field/yard between my house and my next-door-neighbor's/best friend's yard in Oklahoma, a dog was chasing me (I was afraid of most dogs, when I was younger). Suddenly, as my legs were still making the motions for running, I began to lift off the ground. Takeoff was a bit shaky, but soon I was actually up! Actually, my flights are always a bit jerky, and the jerks correspond to how I move my legs, which in mid-air seems more like bicycling than running. After that, I tended to have many flying dreams (though I haven’t had one recently), and the flying always worked the same way: just like riding a bicycle, I never forgot how! Something I eventually started doing was to start my flights from some high point, then jump as high as I could - this made takeoff a bit more effortless. Sometimes I flew very high, but I usually try to stay relatively close to the ground (no taller than a skyscraper, perhaps?), because I was always worried about landing. It takes alot of cycling power to keep myself in the air. I was always worried that I would get up too high, run out of energy, then begin plumetting to the ground (gaining 32.2 ft/s of velocity every second), with no energy left for breaking. However, though my dream landings (which seem to be much fewer than my takeoffs) can be less-than smooth, I have never crashed in a dream. Perhaps if I ever have a lucid flying dream I should try to crash and see what happens?

Note: with the inception (no pun intended... ok, well, maybe it was just a little intended) of my lucid dreaming, this isn't the only way for me to fly in a dream.
