August Rush = :’-( *sniff *

OK Wachel. You were wight. Anyway, I finally saw this movie for my mother-in-law's b-day. My father-in-law really wanted us to see it because of the music. I admit, the music was wonderful. However, the story kinda got to me... I mean, coming from a musical family and all. No wonder they were all telling me to go see this movie! The rock Dad and classical Mom, and virtuoso child, now, who does that remind me of??

Hope: You remember how you said Mozart was a musical prod?
Reverend James: Prodigy.
Hope: Exactly! Well, I've got one of those and he's living under my bed!

Heehee - Tommy probably was under my bed a few times, but I can't honestly say he lived there. What was it Tommy said about this movie? "(ominous tone) If you play it, they will come."

It was so hard to keep from crying - I wonder what makes me try so hard not to? Maybe the fact that I would've been the only one? Anyway, the ending stank. I mean, everybody knew how it would turn out, but the filming was so mediocre. First of all, the ending was way too short. There needed to be more follow-up. It was cool when the mother was pushing through the crowd toward the son, and the father was pushing through the crowd towards her, with an aerial shot. That should've continued. Also, there should've been more looks of astonishment, tears, hugs, etc - when they all finally got together, and exclamations like: "It's you?," "How!," "I knew it!," etc...

OK, some songs that really should've been in the soundtrack:

You've got the music in You - New Radicals
But when the night is falling
and you cannot find the light
If you feel your dream is dying
Hold tight
You've got the music in you
Don't let go
You've got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
Can't forget you only get what you give

...and, of course, my FAVORITE Sixpence song:

The Lines of My Earth - Sixpence None the Richer
This is the last song that I write
'Til you tell me otherwise
And it's because I just don't feel it
This is the last song
'Til you tell me other wise
And it's because I just don't feel it anymore
...
And they in the habit of saying the same things all over again
About the money we shall make

With that last one I have this montage in mind, show Louis (This is the last song that I write), then Lyla (And it's because I just don't feel it), and finally August watching Robin Williams counting money ( And they in the habit of saying the same things all over again, About the money we shall make). *sniff* OK - I'll just go cry again now...

Oh, but one thing that made me mad, is that the movie sort of glorifies out-of-wedlock births. I'm not saying those kids aren't wonderful people, but, you know, if instead of just having a one-night-stand they would've simply exchanged info, then dated, then gotten married, THEN had the kid, they could've avoided all these problems. But, then, there wouldn't really be such a cool story. *sigh* Funny how life works like that. Wait, what am I saying? Who knows if life works like that, this was only a movie!
