Supreme Court Shirks it's Duties

...note, I'm not being an Obama hater here. I guess I am being a bad loser, given that Ron Paul lost to both McCain and Obama (in a way). Anyway, even if I were an Obama supporter, it would've been nice to have all these rumors put to rest. I find it very suspicious that nobody is willing to even do that.

For some reason, I just felt like expanding on why/how I find this suspicious. Your first thought might be that it's suspicious because it suggests that Obama supporters are uncertain if Obama really is a citizen, and therefore don't want the situation exposed to scrutiny. That is one possibility which I have considered, but it's hardly the only one. Another possibility could be that those blocking the investigation are somehow linked to the ones publicizing it: they may know very well that Obama is a citizen, and don't want an investigation that would clear him of blame, but merely to taint his reputation with rumors. But, I think it's important to note that the ones who are actually blocking the investigation are the Supreme Court justices. Not all of them are "on the other side" politically speaking. So, obvious party-line motivations seem questionable. Actually, I'm not exactly sure who in the Supreme Court makes the decisions to hear/not hear a case. I remember reading an article on this somewhere, and the people who were pressing for the investigation had actually managed to have a few words with one of the justices, and asked about this case. The justice was surprised, had not heard of the case, and said that if they presented the case, it would be heard. Another thing is, supposing that this case is merely the work of conservatives with bad will towards Obama, what would this accomplish for them? As one Ron Paul supporter I know put it "They haven't really thought this through. If Obama isn't President, then it'll be Biden - and he's no spring chicken - and after him it's Pelosi." Unless, of course, the motivation for the case is simply out of pure respect for the Constitution. I suspect the Supreme Court simply didn't hear the case because they didn't have the time. I'm beginning to wonder if one Supreme Court is really enough for a nation this size? Still, it does say something about their priorities.

  3. Just FYI: I was raised around and by people who took "Birtherism" seriously. I have since read on wikipedia a fair amount about Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Jerome Corsi and how this whole idea got started. I now see it as thinly veiled racism/xenophobia, and I now see the number of people who go-in for that sort of thing as really disappointing. I'll leave this post up though, lest I fall prey to Hindsight Bias, and convince myself that I never fell for this.

A good podcast I recently listened to.
