In honor of this lolz cat:
My new blog will be titled I Write for Therapy (link: http://maece.tumblr.com/). I can't actually make a link because MySpace blocks it. They are afraid of competition, methinks.
...because I have to write, because I don't want to forget what I have to say (which I may likely never say otherwise), and because it really is therapeutic in a sense. I didn't mean it in the sense of a homeless person's cardboard sign, though that is an interesting thought...
Original MySpace comments:
ReplyDelete"On second thought, it is a silly place. Let us not go there."
Things I dislike about Tumblr:
It's not MySpace. It's too much like Facebook, or Twitter (a place to post impressions of the moment, not a repository of writings). It's not MySpace. I can't/don't know how to setup a coverpage over there. It's not MySpace. It takes too long to figure out what I'm doing over there. It's not MySpace... and did I happen to mention that it's not MySpace???
Stuff I like about MySpace:
I already have everything here setup just the way I want it. It took me over a year to get a decent looking profile page, and now that I have, I'm not about to leave it. Other blogsites don't seem to have the idea of a coverpage; I don't want my writings splayed across the page first thing. I only want people to read them if they really want to, and I really don't think that's most people. I have shareable playlists here, and they are completely legal! I have picture albums here. Other blogsites don't have playlists and picture albums.
That said, the MySpace blog module really does stink! There's no scrollable index, tagging/sorting capabilities, or a search box. Also, with no export function, it's really time consuming to get the blogs backed-up. As it stands now, if something ever happens to MySpace, I'll have years worth of writings dumped down the drain. Furthermore, very few people use MySpace, and that number is shrinking all the time. I don't really mind being in the minority, in a way I sort of like it, but I'm left wondering how long it will be around?
It would also be really nice if MySpace had some internal IP Tracking tools. There are some third party services that do this, but it would be annoying to create trackers for every blog, for instance.
...but MySpace keeps changing their layout. The blog section is more un-navigable than ever, and I almost thought they lost some of my data. So now I'm trying blogger.
