I bought The Sims on half.com for about $5 (incl. S&H). According to a FAQ that I was reading, this was the top selling game of 2000. Now, I love Maxis games. But, I never bought the thing until now. The price of the game itself, combined with the price of the processing power to run it (rather hefty when it first came out), was more than I could be unashamed about spending on a game. Well, heck, it was probably more than I had at the time. Anyway, now I have it! It's probably already provided me almost 24 hrs of entertainment. It will probably provide me with several days more ;) Divide $5 by that, and they are indeed, cheap thrills. Think about how that compares to, for example, a movie ticket. So, right now I'm working on making Adrian the most eligible bachelor in the neighborhood (not too difficult, actually, considering that he's the only bachelor in the neighborhood). So, here's Adrian, employed in the pro-athlete career track, and working out late at night:
...I tried to make him look as much like Adrian as possible, but somehow he reminds me more of a former physics instructor of mine. I think it's the clothes. Well, soon I'm going back to half to get the first expansion pack "Livin' Large," ...for a whopping $0.75 (minus shipping). Maybe then instead of a pink flamingo lawn ornament, I could have a llama. Speaking of llamas, here's an old pic I dug up from when I went to a party at a physic's prof's house while at Purdue. He had a small llama farm. The weirdest part was when he thought it would be cool to have us all come with him and take the male llama down to the female's pen so that they could mate and we could watch (it's not weird that llama's mate, it's just weird to make a social event out of it) ...physicists are weird. I'm just glad I stopped where I did.
That's me and my roomate... the other one was my roomate... not the llama.

Adrian did not put me up to it. Adrian thinks The Sims is one of the stupidest games he's ever seen, and probably didn't particularly want to become a Sim incarnate. It was totally my idea. You see, I had to make him the most eligible bachelor because next I'm making me the most eligible bachelorette and then I'm making us get married. Not that I really think that pro-athletes make the most eligible bachelors, but lots of other people seem to think that, and Adrian does like to work out, so...
